1. Agreement to these Terms
Take Root Abroad (the "Service") is operated by Ten Eleven Twelve LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What Take Root Abroad is
Take Root Abroad is a planning and execution tool for US citizens and residents considering or preparing a move abroad. It organizes a relocation into steps, estimates costs and taxes, compares corridors and cities, and helps you track documents and housing. It is software that helps you plan. It is not a party to, and does not carry out, any visa, tax, legal, financial, or real-estate transaction.
3. Not professional advice
The Service is not legal, tax, immigration, financial, or real-estate advice, and using it does not create any professional or advisory relationship. Immigration rules, tax law, and financial and legal outcomes are specific to your situation and change over time. For any high-stakes decision, you must consult a qualified professional (an immigration attorney, a cross-border tax advisor, or a licensed financial or legal professional) before you act. The Service repeatedly directs you to do so; that steer is part of the product, not a formality.
4. Accuracy, currency, and no guarantee
We work to keep corridor facts, costs, and figures accurate and current, cite sources where we can, and show each fact with a "verified as of" date. Where a fact is genuinely disputed or uncertain, we show it as disputed or as a range rather than as false certainty. Even so, the information may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and third-party sources may change without notice. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness of any information for your purpose. You are responsible for independently verifying any figure or fact before you rely on it.
5. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for the security of your account and for activity under it. A single workspace may have more than one login (for a household planning together); everyone with access can see and change that workspace's data. Keep your credentials and your document-vault PIN secure. We cannot recover a lost vault PIN (see the Privacy Policy).
6. Plans, billing, and refunds
Free Compare is free. The Planner is available through a no-card trial or a paid subscription (annual or monthly), at the prices shown at checkout. Paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel any time and keep access through the end of the paid period. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first Planner charge, which downgrades you to Free Compare and retains your data. Annual plans continue afterward at the then-current Stay Current rate. Billing is handled by our payment processor; we do not store your full card details.
7. Acceptable use
You may use the Service only for your own lawful relocation planning. You may not scrape, resell, redistribute, or expose the Service's data through another product, API, or public feed; reverse engineer the Service; misuse it to harm others; or violate any law or third-party right in your use of it.
8. Intellectual property and third-party data
The Service, its content, and its software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. Some information is provided by third-party sources (for example, cost-of-living data provided under license by Numbeo) and remains subject to those providers' terms. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own planning; no other rights are granted.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any decision you make or action you take based on the Service; and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms or to comply with law. Sections that by their nature should survive (for example, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) survive termination.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make a material change, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
